MR.Barbers Newsletter – September 2018

Academy Launch

Thank you, everyone who supported us at our Mill Rd Academy Launch last month. It is exciting to finally have the doors open and we can start to deliver the education we have been so keen to get involved with.

It was an amazing night with over 100 people there including the Celebrity Ricki Hall who was desperate to let Slimfadey hook him up with a sick trim. We will be doing more work with him in the future. He is keen to become a barber so watch this space!

We will be announcing internal and external courses over the next few weeks, if there are courses you really would like to do, can you let me know on education@mrbarbers.co.uk. We want to help everyone grow and learn so if there is a demand we will run a course for you.

MR. Product Range

MR. Barbers Professional Barber Products have finally landed…

It’s taken us a long time to finally get to this point, but we wanted to get it right. It is so exciting for us to finally be able to get these products to you and to our client base.

We have worked extremely hard to create a range of products that really deliver’s something new and innovative that brings a new dimension to hair styling and maintenance. These product formulas are all bespoke to MR. and cannot be copied in the market. The packaging has taken a while to perfect, but it’s been worth the effort. The containers are very high quality, professionally manufactured and embossed and really stand out on the shelf. We will be getting products to you all over the next few weeks. Read below for more detail on each product in the range.

West Suffolk College

We are extremely proud to announce that MR has partnered with West Suffolk College to deliver all the practical training to all their full time and Apprentice students. We will be running the courses out of both the WSC Bury St Edmunds site and out of our own Mill Rd Academy. It is great to have the opportunity to teach the new wave of barbers coming into the industry and to give them a proper grounding in how to become an amazing barber.

Guest Appearance

2 days Guest educating with Josh O.P. at the Cambridge Academy. 17th – 18th of November. Limited places available. Details to follow.

Bury Shop No2!

Congratulations to Mark Lovell and Tom Old on opening their second shop in Bury St Edmunds.

MR Hertford makes shop no 26!

MR Barbers Hertford opened its doors for the first time last month to a very warm welcome from the town. The shops had an amazing start and with our new barbers Jez and Callum setting the town on fire, it is going to be an amazing shop.

Newmarket 5th Chair

The success of the Newmarket shop just continues to grow to the point were Aaron has had to put a 5th chair in the shop to cope with the demand. Ely and Newmarket are absolutely flying , it just shows that with hard work and determination what great success can be achieved. Well done Aaron and Michael, you really are showing us all how it should be done.

Squire

We are working with the US company Squire to get our new app launched next month. It will be an all singing all dancing version of what we previously had and will make bookings / payments / customer information / customer photos all one slick operation. I never thought an app could change barbering, but this will amaze you.

Bare Skull Rum

Scott Stotten and Jack Brunning did an amazing job working with Dead Mans Fingers in Shoreditch last month. They were there to help promote their new Rum range called Bare Skull Rum in a cool pop up barbershop. We will be looking to do more collaborations with this brand in our own barbershops in the future.

MR Pop Ups

The MR Pop Up has always been a great way of promoting a shop and the brand. It’s a way of getting in front of a new audience and raising awareness. We have invested in an amazing new pop up tent that has full branding and electricity. Its great for local shows, school fetes etc. This was last week at the Havering show were 20,000 people came. Its already produced many new customers into the Hornchurch shop on the back of the pop up, it just goes to show how well this marketing tool works.

Barber of the Month

Congratulations to Karl Foster for being nominated Barber of the Month. Having jumped back on the tools to help out in a lot of the new shops, the reception has been phenomenal from both clients and the barbers working alongside him. We should call him Karl Fadey from now on! The old boys still got it! Well done! Great to see you getting your hands dirty and leading from the front.

Products – the details

Sea Salt Paste

For the ultimate dry hold and texture. A revolutionary new product that contains micro salt crystals within the paste to create the sea salt look whilst the paste holds the look firm. This product allows you to really define dry texture into hair.

H20 Klay

For natural looking firm hold. This Klay moisturises whilst fixing hair into any style, creating a natural look but with incredible hold. Microfibres in the Klay coat each hair strand giving the hair a thicker structure and better stability in the style. Great for adding texture to badly looked after dry hair.

Pomade

The Barbershop Essential, our water-based pomade allows precision styling of those slick back looks, pompadours and much more. It is extremely versatile and can be combed through to leave that slick look or dried out to create volume and style.

Caffeine Beard Oil

This product is a real innovative breakthrough, the texture is deliberately very light, avoiding leaving that residual oily feeling on your face and beard. The formula softens and tames the beard whilst the caffeine promotes consistent healthy growth. Serums built into the oil help moisturise and maintain healthy skin beneath the beard. Due to the revolutionary nature of this product, the oil is not just for big beards, it is designed to be used to nourish stubble and as a post shave facial hydrator and soother.
